At Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign rally on Tuesday, former President Barack Obama performed Eminem’s acclaimed 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” following the artist’s introduction of Obama to the audience.
The viral moment comes as Obama has been out stumping for Harris in key swing states like Wisconsin less than two weeks before Election Day.
“I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous. But I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem,” Obama said when he took the stage in Detroit, Michigan.
“Now, I notice my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti, I’m nervous but on the surface, I look calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep on forgetting,” Obama rapped as the crowd burst into cheers.
Before presenting Obama on stage, Eminem urged attendees at Harris’ rally to vote, emphasizing that Detroit and Michigan were pivotal in this election cycle. Several state polls indicate a tight race between Harris and former President Donald Trump in Michigan.“I also think that people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution, of what people will do if you make your opinion known,” Eminem said at the rally.
“I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”
